How is Medium Density Fiberboard MDF Made?

Medium-density fiberboard MDF is a composite product used in many professional projects like 3D printing, cabinetry, flooring, and many more due to its smooth finish, strength, machinability, and consistency. It is manufactured by pressing wood fiber at high temperatures and pressure. Under the MDF umbrella, there are some other types of MDF, but all of them are made using the same process similar to that of particleboard; that is, wood fibers mixed with resin, then compressed and heated to form durable panels.

MDF sheets wood is an engineered wood product denser than plywood. It is more robust and much thicker than a regular particle board. It has several applicable methods in the making process, such as laser engraving, CNC carving, and cutting. It offers several advantages to the user. Its advantages include;

·         The Medium Density Fiberboard is relatively cheaper than other regular particle boards.

·         Snapmaker’s MDF sheets wood have smooth edges. Therefore, you can use a router to develop a decorative edge.

·         The smoothness and dependability of MDF enable easy CNC carving and cutting or engraving of detailed designs compared to other wooden sheets.

·         The surface of MDF is very smooth, making it great for painting, staining, and sealing, and it joins quickly with other materials with adhesive products.

·         It presents a high mechanical performance.

·         You can efficiently process it as compared to other particle woods.

·         Snapmaker MDF wooden sheet comes in precisely two dimensions aligning with the Snapmaker printer sizes. For instance, the A250T 3D printer will work well with an MDF wooden sheet of 200 x 200 x 3 mm. An A350T 3D printer will work well with an MDF wooden sheet of dimension 300 x 300 x 3 mm. Both MDF wood sheets for Snapmaker 2.0 have a quantity of 5 packs each.

Due to MDF's non-directional grain structure, it is ideal for cutting, machining, and drilling without chipping or splinters. Its smooth surface makes it a perfect choice for simple interior design pieces like cabinetry and other applications you might think of.
